Once world renowned for being the wettest place on earth, Cherrapunjee is 54 km from cherrapunjee. The road is good and the drive scenic. Cherrapunjee is impressive with its gushing waterfalls and the deep gorges. You get stunning views of the plains of Bangladesh. Cherrapunjee’s oranges and honey are famous and you can pick up fine baskets from the Sohra market. Best for a day trip, as there isn’t much by way of accommodation for overnight stays.

Close to town are the glorious Nohsngithiang Falls (Mawsmai Falls), Dainthlen Falls, Nohkailikai Falls (world’s fourth highest), and many smaller falls. The stunning gorges are worth all that film you carried with you.

Mawsynram, 55 km near Cherrapunjee, is the wettest place on earth. It is also reputed for its stalagmite and stalactite caves.

How to reach Cherrapunjee

By Air : Pawan Hans has provided a Dauphin helicopter to Govt. of Meghalaya for running regular passenger services on Guwahati- Shillong - Tura sector. You can take a bus or taxi to Cherrapunji, after reaching Shillong.

By Road : Cherrapunji is 60 km from Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya. A steep motorable road, are available, which leads up to Cherrapunji. Buses and taxis ply to Cherrapunji from Shillong.
