Khonoma Village

khonoma village is the district headquarter and home of the Chakhesang (a combination of three tribes : ‘Cha’ of Chekru, ‘Khe’ of Khezhe and ‘Sang’ of Sangtam). The culture and customs of the Chakhesang is very different from other Nagas. khonoma village is famous for its colourful Tsukhenyie festival which takes places in March-April. Blythe Tragopan pheasants are found in abundance here as are exotic varieties of orchids.
