Rajasthan and its fairs and festivals are known for its celebrations in all over the world. Thousands of local and foreign tourists come here frequently in Rajasthan every year to participate and celebrate these fairs and festivals. Rajasthan is known for its abundance of sun, sand and celebrations. All the festivals are celebrated in every city of Rajasthan but some of the cities are popular for their individual fairs and festivals which are celebrated here every year with lots of joys and happiness. There are unique festivals here in Rajasthan which are not celebrated in any other part of India like Desert Festival, Camel Festival, Mewar Festival and Pushkar Fair. Not only men and women decorate themselves in these festivals but animals like elephant and camel are also decorated in something different way which you can not see anywhere in the World. These animals also display spellbinding footwork, dancing and other items which attract thousands of visitors to them. Fairs and Festivals of Rajasthan show the extreme combination of the folk dances and songs. Urs in Ajmer is also celebrated every year not only by Muslims but also by every religion of person. Famous Fairs and Festivals in Rajasthan


Pushkar Fair: Pushkar Fair in Rajasthan is celebrated in the city of Pushkar and it is the most popular fair of whole Rajasthan. Excitement, gaiety and competitions make this festival, most popular fair of Rajasthan. Pushkar is known for its two most popular things, one is Pushkar fair and other is Brahma Temple.

Mewar Festival, Udaipur: Mewar festival is celebrated in the beautiful city of Udaipur to welcome the advent of spring. This festival shows the best part of Rajasthan for which this state is known for. You will feel the real culture of Rajasthan in this festival through its folk songs, dances and other programs. In the evening impressive fire works are also displayed in this festival which is praised by every body.

Elephant Festival, Jaipur: Elephant festival is celebrated in pink city of Rajasthan, Jaipur. This festival is celebrated every year in Jaipur with groomed flawlessly, rows of elephants who catwalk before an enthralled audience. This seems almost like a fashion show. In this festival you will also enjoy watching the most difficult elephant moves, run races, games of polo and many more.

Urs Ajmer Sharif: Urs is celebrated every year in the city of Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti, Ajmer. This city is known for its famous tomb of Khwaja ji. Every year thousands of pilgrims come here to join this celebration of Urs. You will find every religion person here during the period of Urs. This is the most famous place of Rajasthan known for its Urs.

Summer Festival, Mount Abu: Summer Festival is celebrated in Mount Abu which is only a hill station in the desert state of Rajasthan. This summer festival is held in every month of June. This is a three day festival and during this festival the best of folk and classical music is presented in front of visitors. This music also represents the tribal life of Rajasthan and culture of Rajasthan.

Nagaur Fair, Nagaur: Nagaur fair is an animal fair which is celebrated in the city of Nagaur in Rajasthan. In this fair you will enjoy watching some of the local sports and this fair is celebrated every year in the month of Jan-Feb. Duration of this fair is 8 days. This fair is also known as cattle fair which is the second largest in Rajasthan.

Baneshwar Fair, Dungarpur: Baneshwar fair is held in Dungarpur and known as a religious festival. This festival represents the life of tribal cultural identity of Bhils of Rajasthan, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.

Gangaur Festival, Jaipur: Gangaur Festival is devoted to Goddess Parvati and celebrated in the city of Jaipur. This festival commences on Holi and young girls pray for rooms of their choice while married women seek a long life for their husbands.

Banganga Fair: Banganga fair is celebrated on annually on the full moon day of Vaishakh in the month of April-May near Bairath. Bairath is a historical township only 11 kms away from Jaipur.

Brij Festival: Brij Festival is an important festival which is celebrated before a few days from Holi. This festival is celebrated in the month of March in honor of Lord Krishna. Villagers can be seen singing and performing Raslila dance during this festival.

Camel Festival: Camel Festival is organized by the Department of Tourism, Art and Culture in the city of Bikaner in Rajasthan. This festival is celebrated in the month of January in Bikaner. Camel is an important animal in the daily life of Rajasthan that is why this festival is celebrated at a glance.

Desert Festival: Desert Festival is celebrated in the city of sand dunes, Jaisalmer. This is also an important and famous festival of Rajasthan. During this festival, you will see brilliant color, music and laughter. This festival is celebrated in the month of January-February.

Ganesh Chaturthi: Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated in all the cities of Rajasthan but in Ranthambore one can see the best of celebrations during this festival. Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated for the birth of Lord Ganesha. There is a temple of Ganesha in the fort of Ranthambore.

Kaila Devi Fair: Kaila Devi Fair is held in the village Kaila in Karauli in the month of March and April. There is a famous temple of Kaila Devi which is located on the banks of the Kalisil River in the hills of Trikut.

Shekhawati Fair: On every 10th and 11th February, Shekhawati Fair is celebrated in Shekhawati region. This festival is organized by the department of tourism, district administrations of Sikar, Jhunjhunu and Churu.

Teej Festival: Teej festival of Rajasthan is an important and famous festival of the state. This festival marks the advent of the monsoon in the month of August. In this festival young girls and women dressed in green clothes and sing songs for the advent of the monsoon.
