Jaipur, also known as pink city is a beautiful city in the state of Rajasthan. This city is also the capital of Rajasthan and known for its beautiful, ancient and old architectural monuments. This is the city which no one wants to leave during his visit to Rajasthan. Jaipur is also the part of world famous Golden Triangle tour of India. Stunning hilltop forts and glorious palaces shows its royal and rich past. City centre bazaars also show the rich culture of this place. These bazaars have unique and beautiful things to sell which are impossible to find anywhere around the world. This beautiful city of North India is also named Pink City because most of the homes and shops are colored in pink. In the year 1876, Maharaja Ram Singh ordered to paint the old city in pink to welcome the Prince of Wales and the tradition has been maintained till now.

Famous Tourist Attractions of Jaipur

Old City (Pink City): Old city also known as Pink City is a beautiful place to visit. Most of the area is occupied by the shopkeepers. This old city is encircled by a crenellated battle scarred wall and which has three major gates named as Chandpol, Ajmer and Sanganeri. The main bazaars of this place are Johari, Tripolia, Bapu and Chandpol.

Hawa Mahal: Hawa Mahal also known by the name of Palace of the Winds is the most distinctive landmark of Jaipur. Hawa Mahal is a five storey building constructed in 1799 by Maharaja Sawaj Pratap Singh. Basically this building was constructed for Rajput women for watching the city life from its small windows. The top provides a stunning view to other attractions of Jaipur like Jantar Mantar and City Palace.

City Palace: City Palace is a beautiful palace in the heart of the city. City Palace has impressive and vast complex of courtyards, gardens and buildings. This palace is a perfect example of Rajasthani and Mughal architecture. There are several tourist attractions in this palace like Chandra Mahal, Mubarak Mahal, Maharaja Sawai Mansing II Museum, Diwan-i-Am, Diwan-i-Khas, Pitam Niwas Chowk and many more.

Jantar Mantar: Jantar Mantar is an observatory very near to City Palace built by Jai Singh in the year 1728. There are several instruments of that time and every instrument has its own significance. Some are for calculating eclipses; some are sundial and some for other purposes. There are total five Jantar Mantar in all over the India and in which this is the largest and best preserved.

Central Museum: This museum is situated in the south of old city. Central Museum displays a fine array of tribal ware, decorative arts, costumes, drawings and musical instruments. Photography in this place is strictly prohibited.

Nahargarh: Nahargarh was built in the year 1734 on a hilltop on the north side of city. This is a fort which is around 8 km away from the city. Now a day this fort has become a best and popular picnic spot on weekends. From here you can also watch a perfect view of sunset.

Monkey Temple: Monkey temple is a well known temple of Jaipur and also known by the name of Temple of the Sun God. Basically this place is in Galta, 2.5 km away from east of Jaipur. This place is mostly packed with bathing pilgrims.

Other Attractions of Jaipur: There are some more tourist attractions in Jaipur which are worth watching. In these famous attractions some are Museum of Indology, Fort of Moti Dungri and Birla Lakshmi Narayan Temple.
