Bandhavgarh National ParkBandhavgarh National Park is situated in Madhya Pradesh in Central India. Bandhavgarh National Park is known for its famous White Tigers of Rewa. White Tiger is a rare animal to watch which is possible in Bandhavgarh National Park. Bandhavgarh National Park was declared a national park in the year 1968. Bandhavgarh National Park is situated 31 km from Umaria District in Madhya Pradesh. The area of this park is 458 sq. km. This national park is steep and rocky and contains flat tops and level grasslands in the valleys below. Uncountable fine and beautiful Sal trees and stretches of bamboo are found in the forest of Bandhavgarh National Park.

Bandhavgarh National Park is known for having one of the densest populations of Tigers in all over the Indian Wildlife National Parks. There are also other very rare animals found in this national park like Nilgai, Chital, Chinkara, Gaur, Sloth Bears and Wild Boars. Except these animals there are around 253 species of birds. The best part of Bandhavgarh National Park is that it is one of the best national parks for nature lovers to witness the White Tiger in action.

Wildlife National Parks of India are also well known for adventure tours like jungle safari. There are three types of jungle safari known as jeep safari, horse safari and elephant safari. Mostly people use to choose elephant and jeep safari in this type of areas. There are several options to visit this park in which safari is the best option. Bandhavgarh National Park also offers safaris to the visitors and these are Jeep and Elephant Safari. Mostly jeep safari is opted during the early morning hours to evening. The best time for elephant safari in Bandhavgarh is evening to late night. Forest guides are also available here from Government of India.

Archaeological Remains of the Kalchuri period are the major attractions near Bandhavgarh National Park. If someone wants to visit more attractions with Bandhavgarh National Park then it is the best option. There is one more prime attraction here which is known by the name of Bandhavgarh Fort. This ancient fort is 2000 years old. The specialty of this fort is that it houses large number of caves of historical period. Baghela Museum is also one more attraction around this park which houses private collections of the King of Rewa and unique collections of military weapons.

The best time to visit Bandhavgarh National Park is November to March and May to June.

Wildlife Attractions in Bandhavgarh National Park

Although Bandhavgarh National park is known for its rare species of White tigers but there are several other rare mammals and birds. There are lots of animals like Nilgai, Chausingha, Chital, Chinkara, Wild boar, fox and jackal. There are also around 253 bird species in this park. One can also enjoy watching migratory birds in winter season. Some of the famous bird species are steppe eagle and various water birds. If you want to experience more thrill then you must roam on the terrace of the Bandhavgarh Fort from where you can experience breathtaking bird’s eye view of the park. Avian species are also found here like Peacock, Paradise fly catchers, Jungle Fowl, Golden and Black headed Orioles, Yellow Ioras, Red-vented Bulbuls, Blue Jays, Purple Sunbirds, Green Barbets and Mynahs. So in fewer words it is better to say that this place is really a paradise for those who love nature and its species.

How to Get there?

By Air: The nearest well connected airport is Khajuraho. Daily flights are available Delhi to Khajuraho.

By Rail: The nearest railhead is Umaria located on the Katni-Bilaspur.

By Road: Bandhavgarh National Park is well connected by bus services. Nearest bus terminals are Rewa, Satna, Katni and Umaria. Hiring cars from Katni, Umaria, Satna or Bilaspur is also an option for visitors.
